Tennessee Titans (0-0 SU, 0-0 ATS, 0-0 O/U) vs. Green Bay Packers (0-0 SU, 0-0 ATS, 0-0 O/U)
NFL: Thursday, August 9, 2018 at 8:00 p.m. EST
The Line: Pick ’em. Total: 34.5.
The Green Bay Packers and Tennessee Titans will kick off their preseasons when they collide at Lambeau Field in Green Bay on Thursday night. Tennessee is hoping to build on a successful 2017 campaign in which it snuck into the playoffs at 9-7, stunned Kansas City, and then got clobbered by New England. The Packers’ main priority this year has to be for Aaron Rodgers to stay healthy.

Changes at safety

There has been some moving and shaking at the safety position for the Titans already this month. Projected started Johnathan Cyprien went down with a torn ACL during practice on Wednesday and will obviously miss the entire season. Cyprien was diagnosed with the worst possible news one day later.
“I am devastated to say that he tore his ACL,” head coach Mike Vrabel lamented. “It’s tough for me as a new head coach watching guys work hard in the offseason, play hard and not get a chance to experience the NFL season this year.”
Eighth-year safety Kendrick Lewis was the likely candidate to take Cyprien’s starting spot, but Tennessee signed Kenny Vaccaro over the weekend. Plenty of veteran safeties have gone unsigned so far this offseason and that was the story for Vaccaro until he landed in Tennessee on Saturday. As for Lewis, hew was held out of practice on Thursday because of a minor injury he suffered while making a diving interception one day earlier.
The Packers’ early-preseason injury issues are not as dire. Left tackle David Bakhtiari recently sustained an ankle injury, but it was diagnosed as nothing more than a sprain and he should be ready to go for Week 1 of the regular season. That means, of course, that he won’t be getting any reps in Thursday’s preseason contest against Tennessee. Bakhtiari has been a mainstay at what is considered the most important position on the offensive line, starting all but six games of his five-year career. Despite missing four games last season with a hamstring injury, he was named as an All-Pro (second team) for the second consecutive year. Green Bay used 11 different starting combinations on the O-line in 16 games during the 2017 campaign, and Rodgers has made it clear that is hoping to get five starters in place ASAP so they can start doing some serious work during the preseason. But with Bakhtiari already sidelined, that will not happen.

The Bottom LineWhat to bet on this game.

Full-Game Side Bet
The Packers have compiled 3-1 records in each of the last two preseasons–including 2-0 at home on both occasions. They are 5-0 in their last five preseason contests at Lambeau Field and 7-1 in their last eight. Green Bay should be at least somewhat motivated to get things started in fine fashion in front of the Cheeseheads, even if this is relatively meaningless football aside from emerging from all four quarters with as few injuries as possible.
Prediction: Pick: Green Bay Packers
Full-Game Total Pick
By all accounts, Rodgers and a couple of his wide receivers after having a stellar preseason so far on the practice field. Green Bay may be able to victimize a Tennessee secondary that will be doing some tinkering throughout the preseason. The over is 5-2 in the Titans’ last seven on Thursdays. It is also 22-7 in the Packers’ last 29 overall, 5-2 in their last seven on Thursdays, and 4-1 in their last five on grass. Additionally, the over is 5-1 in the last six meetings between the two teams. Look for this one to go over the total
